Iraq al-Amir

A cave in Iraq al-Amir, 20 km from Amman. The ancient Hebrew/Aramaic inscription reads ‘Tobiyah'(in classical Hebrew script: טוביה), a name which occurs in Josephus as an Ammonite tribal lineage which built a palace in the eastern Jordan. The Hellenistic palace of ‘Qasr al-Abd’ (castle of the servant) is not far from the caves.
